Grown-ups act like babies don't know anything. But anyone who's met the fearless, hairless, Tommy Pickles and his friends can tell you that this baby brigade know what's really going on. And they'd be happy to fill in the grown-ups, if they could only understand babytalk. For the Rugrats, every day is an adventure. Especially if baby-teasing, doll-torturing 3 year-old Angelica's around. Luckily when the going gets tough, the gang gets going! As Tommy always says, "A baby's gotta do what a baby's gotta do!"
TOMMY PICKLES
While Chuckie's a fraidycat and Phil and Lil argue, the one-and-only Tommy Pickles is the guy who really gets things done. And to think, he's still in diapers! Tommy runs the show, no doubt about it. He's a born (make that RECENTLY born) leader. He's smart, he loves adventure and he's got a special charm that works on both babies and grown-ups. As Tommy always says, A baby's gotta do what a baby's gotta do.\"\"
CHUCKY FINSTER
A fraidycat with a stuffy nose, Chuckie's kind of a nervous little guy. And why not? Life is scary! As the Rugrats' voice of caution, Chuckie's got a tough job. What would happen if Chuckie weren't around to warn everybody of the dangers of...well, everything? Chuckie may seem a little TOO careful sometimes, but he still joins the babies on their missions against mysterious enemies like clowns and monsters. Oh yeah, and their most ferocious foe: Angelica.
ANGELICA PICKLES
Three years of serious bossiness wrapped up into one pigtailed package...that's Angelica. She believes babies were born to be picked on. And tricked. And blamed for things they didn't do. After all, she was here first! Angelica has a temper, and the Rugrats aren't the only ones to feel her wrath. Her doll, Cynthia, gets mangled on a regular basis. But Angelica was the one who brought all the babies together, so she does have a little bit of niceness in her. You just have to look hard to find it!
PHIL DEVILLE
Phil and Lil DeVille are twins. Not only do they look almost exactly alike (except for Lil's hair ribbon), they think alike too. When one of them starts a sentence, the other finishes it. But like all brothers and sisters, Phil and Lil can get into some pretty cranky arguments. But when the twins are getting along, they really pull the Rugrats together as a team. They can even convince Chuckie to join in Tommy's adventures!
LIL DEVILLE
Phil and Lil DeVille are twins. Not only do they look almost exactly alike (except for Lil's hair ribbon), they think alike too. When one of them starts a sentence, the other finishes it. But like all brothers and sisters, Phil and Lil can get into some pretty cranky arguments. But when the twins are getting along, they really pull the Rugrats together as a team. They can even convince Chuckie to join in Tommy's adventures!
SPIKE
Talk about unsung heroes! The Pickles' dog, Spike, has helped the Rugrats through more adventures than he can count (if he could count, that is). Spike doesn't have any magical powers, and he doesn't seem to do anything all that amazing, but looks can be deceiving. Spike watches over the babies more closely than Stu, Didi or Grandpa Lou. And he's always willing to get his paws in the action when it comes to adventures.
SUZIE CARMICHAEL
Even great leaders like Tommy Pickles sometimes seek advice from older, worldlier people. The Pickles' neighbor Susie Carmichael is one of those people. Susie is 3, just like Angelica, but the similarities end there. If you go to Susie for help, that's just what you'll get. Even if she doesn't know what to tell you, she'll at least try. After all, Tommy wouldn't consult just ANY 3-year-old.
REPTAR
He's mean! And he's rarely seen! Well...unless you catch his movies, or see him on TV, or go to his amusement parks, or play with Reptar toys, or eat Reptar Bars... Ok, this big lizard really gets around. And while it's not always clear if he's a real monster or just some guy in a suit, he's the idol of Rugrats everywhere, especially Tommy and Chuckie, Reptar's BIGGEST little fans.
GRANDPA
Tommy, Dil and Angelica's Grandpa Lou is one of the only grown-ups who knows what's going on. Sort of. A frequent sitter for all the babies, he spends more time with the Rugrats than the rest of the grown-ups do even if he ends up napping through most of it. Grandpa never lets anyone forget what life was like in the old days. Only no one's really sure how much he REALLY remembers about them. Just give Grandpa Lou a big comfortable chair and a fishing show to watch, and everything's fine.
STU
One look at Stu Pickles, Tommy and Dil's dad, and it's easy to see where Tommy got his imagination. Well, maybe it takes more than one look. At first he seems pretty absentminded. But Stu invents toys for a living, so he must have something going on upstairs (or downstairs, since he builds the toys in his basement). And since Stu spends most of his time in his own world, the babies have plenty of room to roam!
DIDI PICKLES
Even the bravest, smartest leaders of our time have moms. Tommy and Dil's mom, Didi, is as devoted as they come. In fact, she gets so wrapped up in learning how to be a good mom that half the time she ends up losing track of her boys. Fortunately for Tommy and Dil, this means more time for adventures. With all of the babies' adventures, you'd think Didi would be the most worried mom in the world. Luckily, they're usually back before she even knew they were gone!
DREW
Angelica's daddy is Drew is Tommy and Dil's daddy's brother. That means Grandpa Lou is his dad too. Stu likes to say that Drew counts beans for a living. And Drew likes to say Stu should get a 'real job', whatever that is. In fact, the brothers are about as different as, well, Angelica and Tommy!
CHARLOTTE PICKLES
Charlotte is Drew's wife and Angelica's mommy. She's the boss of her own company, and she pretty much has her cell phone glued to her ear not literally, though. It's a good thing Charlotte's assistant Jonathan is around, or she'd probably never have time to see her darling daughter. And then how would Angelica learn how to be so good at bossing people around?
HOWARD DEVILLE
Phil and Lil's dad Howard is the quietest grown-up in the gang. This is probably because he's married to Betty, the loudest grown-up in the gang, and it's hard to get a word in edgewise. The DeVilles are the Pickles' next-door neighbors, and Howard likes to drop by and see Stu's toys. Or maybe he's just looking for a little peace and quiet...
BETTY DEVILLE
Phil and Lil's mom Betty is really nice, but also really LOUD. She's best friends with Tommy and Dil's mom Didi, and they do a lot of stuff together. Betty's also really into sports. Just ask her about it. Or anything else...
DIL PICKLES
Tommy's baby brother Dil is a typical 3-month-old. He wants everything NOW and he'll do whatever he can to grab it and if he does manage to grab it, he won't let it go without a fight. The other babies can understand him when he speaks, but he's still an infant, so sometimes he doesn't get all the words right. And when he's frustrated, look out: Dil might not be so great at talking yet, but when it comes to CRYING, he's a pro!
